Description
A Michigan red-tailed hawk, often mistaken for a Golden Eagle. Unmistakable markings include the noticeable red tail along with the black parentheses markings on the insides of their wings along with the brown head. The red-tailed hawk is one of the fastest living things on earth with dive speeds of up to 170 MPH and an average of 120 MPH, only beat by the Peregrine Falcon in a dive which itself can achieve speeds on up to 350 MPH.
If you get close enough to a Michigan Red-tailed Hawk, it just may show off its speed by swooping down from high altitudes then swoop back up to make a jet sounding noise that is very cool to witness in person.
